TOUR Championship 2026: Golf’s Biggest Prize on the Line at East Lake

ATLANTA, AUGUST 27, 2026: The PGA TOUR season reaches its decisive stage on Thursday as the TOUR Championship gets underway at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, bringing together the top 30 players in the FedExCup standings for four days of high-stakes golf. The tournament runs from August 27 to 30.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler arrives as the FedExCup leader for the fifth consecutive year and will be among the leading contenders for the title. Defending champion Tommy Fleetwood, Wyndham Clark, Rory McIlroy, Matt Fitzpatrick and Collin Morikawa headline a field packed with some of the biggest names in the sport.

The 2026 edition will once again use a 72-hole stroke-play format, with every player beginning at even par. Unlike the old starting-strokes system, the FedExCup champion will be determined by the best 72-hole score across the four rounds.

The stakes are enormous. The tournament carries a $40 million purse, with the winner receiving $10 million and the FedExCup title.

East Lake, a historic par-70 layout measuring roughly 7,440 yards, is expected to provide a demanding test. With the season’s ultimate prize at stake, every shot from the opening round could prove crucial.
