Suspected Pakistani Drone Detected Near LoC in Poonch, Security Forces on High Alert
JAMMU & KASHMIR | AUGUST 29, 2026
NEWS DESK: Security forces along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified surveillance after a suspected Pakistani drone was detected over forward areas of Poonch district.
According to security officials, the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was reportedly observed during the evening hours near the Balakote–Mendhar sector. The movement prompted an immediate security response, with personnel placed on heightened alert across vulnerable areas along the LoC.
Following the sighting, security forces increased aerial and ground surveillance and launched searches in areas where the drone was reportedly observed. The operation is aimed at determining the drone’s flight path and checking for any possible suspicious activity or material associated with the aerial movement.
Drone activity along the LoC remains a significant security concern because unmanned aerial systems can potentially be used for surveillance or the movement of prohibited materials without directly exposing personnel to border-crossing risks.
Security agencies are therefore maintaining close coordination, combining ground patrols, technical surveillance and intelligence inputs to monitor possible aerial intrusions. Forward positions have also been placed under enhanced observation as authorities continue to assess the situation.
Officials have not indicated any confirmed recovery of weapons, explosives or other suspicious material linked to the reported drone sighting. Further details are expected as the ongoing surveillance and search operations progress.
The latest development highlights the growing importance of advanced detection systems and rapid-response mechanisms in securing sensitive border areas. Security forces remain vigilant, particularly across vulnerable stretches where aerial activity can pose an additional challenge.
NG TV NEWS will continue to follow the development and report verified information as further official details emerge.
