German luxury carmaker Porsche and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) have announced a major five-year strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the use of artificial intelligence across the automotive giant’s operations.

Under the agreement, TCS will establish a dedicated AI Mobility Centre of Excellence for Porsche, focusing on the application of AI across manufacturing, engineering, operations and customer experience. The partnership is valued at approximately €1.25 billion, making it one of the more significant technology collaborations involving an Indian IT company and a global automobile manufacturer.

The deal also includes TCS’s planned acquisition of 100% of MHP Management- und IT-Beratung GmbH, Porsche’s Germany-based management and IT consulting subsidiary, for an enterprise value of €320 million. The transaction remains subject to regulatory and competition approvals and is expected to close in the coming months.

MHP, which employs more than 4,500 people worldwide, brings specialist expertise in automotive consulting, manufacturing digitalisation, artificial intelligence and software-defined mobility. TCS said the acquisition would complement its global technology, engineering and AI capabilities while strengthening its presence in Germany and the wider European automotive market.

For Porsche, the partnership represents a broader push to concentrate on its core automotive business while using technology to improve efficiency and competitiveness. The companies plan to work together on scaling AI solutions across Porsche’s value chain, potentially influencing everything from factory operations and engineering processes to customer-facing services.

For TCS, the agreement marks another step in its expansion beyond traditional IT services into AI-led industrial transformation.

The partnership underlines a growing shift in the global automobile industry, where software, data and artificial intelligence are becoming increasingly important to vehicle development and manufacturing.
