Nepal’s Nightmare Reaches Guwahati! Landslides Kill Four

The horror of devastating floods and landslides in Nepal now echoes in Guwahati. After days of heavy and continuous rain, two separate landslides struck Guwahati on Tuesday, killing four people.
The first major incident took place in Nizarapara, where three members of the same family were killed. The victims have been identified as 50-year-old Nagen Rajbongshi, his 38-year-old wife Sonu Rajbongshi, and their 11-year-old daughter

Their 19-year-old son, Biplab Rajbongshi, survived but was injured in the incident. He has been admitted to hospital for treatment.

Following the landslide, fire and emergency service personnel, police teams and local residents joined forces to search through the debris. The bodies of the victims were eventually recovered from the site.
A separate landslide was reported from Satgaon, where a 65-year-old woman lost her life.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, or ASDMA, five people were injured in landslide-related incidents across the state on Tuesday. Four of the injured are from Kamrup Metropolitan district, while one is from Hailakandi.

With heavy rain continuing across Assam, concern is mounting over landslides in Guwahati’s hilly and vulnerable areas. Rescue and relief operations are underway in the affected locations.
Meanwhile, the situation in flood-hit Nepal remains catastrophic. The death toll has crossed 1,000, while nearly 4,000 people are still missing. As rescue operations continue, more bodies are being recovered—and some have reportedly been swept into India. Against this grim backdrop, the deadly landslides in Guwahati have triggered fresh fears as relentless rain continues to batter the region.
