MARKET OUTLOOK NIFTY, BANK NIFTY MAY SEE SELECTIVE BUYING GOLD, SILVER RETAIN BULLISH BIAS | NGTV English

SEBI-Registered Research Analyst Dr Abhik Mitra’s analysis for Tuesday, August 25, 2026

Kolkata, August 24: Indian markets could witness a cautious but potentially positive session on Tuesday, with technical indicators suggesting scope for a recovery if key resistance levels are decisively breached. According to an analysis by SEBI-registered Research Analyst Dr Abhik Mitra, Bank Nifty currently offers a relatively stronger setup than Nifty 50, while precious metals continue to maintain a bullish undertone.

The Nifty 50, which closed at 24,252 in the latest completed session, remains caught between crucial support and resistance zones. The index has been affected by elevated crude prices, geopolitical uncertainty and higher global bond yields, factors that have weakened risk appetite. Reuters reported that Nifty lost around 0.5% over the previous week, although private banks demonstrated relative strength.

Dr Mitra identifies 24,000–24,150 as an important support zone and 24,350–24,400 as the immediate resistance area. A sustained move above 24,400 could open the way towards 24,500–24,600. Conversely, a decisive breakdown below 24,000 could drag the index towards 23,900–23,800.

For derivatives traders, Dr Mitra’s preferred strategy is not to buy options blindly at the opening. A Nifty Call option could become preferable only after a confirmed breakout above 24,350–24,400, while a Put option would gain preference only below 24,000.

BANK NIFTY: RELATIVE STRENGTH FAVOURS BULLS

Bank Nifty closed at around 57,762, gaining 0.46% in the latest referenced session. Dr Mitra sees 57,300–57,400 as crucial support and 58,000–58,100 as the key breakout zone.

A sustained move above 58,100 could trigger an upside towards 58,300 and 58,500, making a Bank Nifty Call the preferred directional trade after confirmation. Below 57,300, however, the outlook could turn negative, with 57,000 and 56,700 emerging as downside levels.

GOLD AND SILVER: BULLISH, BUT AVOID CHASING

The bullion market remains constructive. MCX currently shows gold around ₹1.62 lakh per 10 grams and silver around ₹2.46 lakh per kg.

Dr Mitra maintains a buy-on-dips approach to gold, with ₹1.56 lakh acting as an important support and ₹1.62 lakh as a key resistance zone. Silver remains bullish but significantly more volatile; ₹2.45 lakh is the important support, while a sustained move above ₹2.50 lakh could trigger further momentum.

DR ABHIK MITRA’S TAKEAWAY

Nifty: Neutral to mildly bullish
Bank Nifty: Mildly bullish; stronger setup
Gold: Bullish, preferably buy on dips
Silver: Bullish but highly volatile

For F&O traders, the central message is clear: confirmation matters more than prediction. Option buyers should avoid chasing premiums and should consider trades only after the stated technical levels are decisively breached. Market predictions remain probabilistic and are subject to global cues, crude prices, volatility and overnight developments.
